Job Description


The HRIS (Workday) Specialist partners with various HR functional areas, managers, process and/or business owners, and technical support staff to define, refine, and translate business requirements into technical requirements and build plans, driving the organization towards automation and efficiencies across HRIS Systems.


  • Project manage Workday feature releases with HRIS Team, working with functional teams, making necessary configurations, testing, documentation, change management, to go live.
  • Provide Technical/Functional support for Workday, including HCM, Benefits, Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking, Advanced Compensation, Performance modules.
  • Partner with various HR team members to enhance, develop and implement system features and functionality in support of end-to-end Associate life cycle.
  • Maintains leading-edge knowledge and benchmarking of HR Information Systems industry, practice, and compliance issues to improve the HR policies and initiatives to enhance overall business performance.
  • Provide end-user troubleshooting, issue remediation, technology request assistance and escalation management.
  • Monitors reoccurring issues, system/data or process gaps and proactively identify potential sources of increased efficiency and enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate security role permissions, and create new roles as needed.
  • Create documentation and artifacts required for each phase of the development life cycle and configurations
  • Gather and qualify business requirements and recommend solutions in collaboration with partnering teams (IT, Payroll, Finance). Analyze existing workflows, document and streamline processes. Perform system configurations and maintenance. Assist with the development and maintenance of a reporting repository and supports reporting and analytics requests.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and accuracy of systems data, in the form of quarterly user and access audits; system checks and data validation processes with HR Partners.
  • Performs analysis, configuration direction, configuration, implementation, and support of assigned application systems. Analyzes methods of defining and gathering relevant information to capture user needs and requirements. Explores alternatives, prepares system configuration and program specifications to meet user requirements.
  • Designs appropriate configuration, tests and implements solutions within scope and time parameters.
  • Works independently on existing and assigned projects/Workday modules and is the subject matter expert on the modules assigned. The team works in a highly collaborative manner, so this position must be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Uses software capabilities to partner and improve functional area efficiencies and user experience along with maintaining current and historical data requirements.
  • Testing of HR processes during system updates/upgrades or when new functionality is implemented are key responsibilities of this position.
  • Assists with training for business area owners and users of the HRIS. Advises users on how to best use system functionality to automate workflow and troubleshoot user issues.

Basic Requirements:

  • 3-5 years HRIS systems experience – experience with Workday highly preferred
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills required
  • General understanding of business processes within Human Resource areas: recruiting, payroll, benefits, compensation, talent management, etc...
  • Microsoft Office suite – proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to participate in change management initiatives
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Services, HR, Business or related area
  • Demonstrated success as a team player, leading and participating in successful teams and project implementations
  • Experience working with confidential information and critical business processes required
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in defining test plans, test cases, test execution, and defect reporting for Workday or any HR based enterprise software applications
