Summary:

Our healthcare analytics team build business intelligence products that allows our clients to gain actionable insights and explore their data in ways never before possible.  Individuals on this team are passionate about healthcare and using data to solve problems, producing better outcomes while driving down the cost of care.  They work directly with product managers, EHR engineers, data engineers, DBAs, and support professionals to facilitate retrieving data from a variety of sources, and transforming it into required formats, and creating visualizations that meet our clients’ needs.

This role functions as a core member of an agile team, at the intersection of analytics, data platform, and our EHRs.  The engineer will be required to gain familiarity with the source EHR database or non-SQL based structures in our data platform that are used as the source of data for our analytics solutions. The ability to learn and master a variety of data structures is key.  These professionals are responsible for writing code that reliably retrieves data from a variety of data sources and transforming it into a structure that meets the requirements of our analytics applications. 

                These engineers are responsible for constructing visualizations using modern web technologies, harnessing the extracted data sets that are incorporated at the point of care.  Comprehension of healthcare business requirements is key to identify effective visualizations that fit the business need while making them approachable to care professionals.  Ability to effectively communicate data structure concepts, associations between data, and visualization concepts are paramount to success.  They must work well in a team environment, with both technical and business analyst roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, Coding, Testing, Documentation in the areas of Development and Maintenance
  • Ownership of assigned software and non-software deliverables
  • Liaison with Business Analysts and/or internal / external customers to ensure that requirements are understood
  • Production of accurate, unambiguous technical design specifications to the required level of detail in the timescales as defined by the PM
  • Production, preparation and execution of unit test plans
  • Production of efficient and fully documented code
  • Production of supporting technical and installation documentation for internal and external publication
  • Achievement of agreed productivity targets in order to ensure developments are delivered within budget, to schedule and to defined quality standards
  • Completion of all necessary software and non-software components in the timelines as defined by the Project Manager
  • Works with little supervision from project or line manager
  • Work with other product teams to understand business processes and associated data structures

Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant combination of training and education
  • 2 plus years of technical experience in software development
  • Proficient with SQL Languages and relational database design. Proficient with using aggregations and grouping in SQL. 
  • Experience with JavaScript/HTML5 and Single Page Application frameworks.  Experience with vue.js a plus but not required. 
  • Strong understanding of set theory and basic understanding of statistical methods.
  • Experience working with rest APIs, an understanding of RESTful design principles, and JSON
  • Understanding of cloud-based SaaS architectures – involves designing elastic solutions, distributed state, availability, scalability, etc.
  • Experience in Object Oriented Design.
  • Experience with full lifecycle development and using Agile methods.
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS based solutions a plus.
  • Experience with healthcare systems and technology a plus: Care Management, EDI, HL7, HIE, IHE, CCD
  • Excellent analytical, design and troubleshooting skills and server side debugging skills.
  • Excellent research and analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and tenacious when tackling tough technical issues.
  • Ability to find correlations in data based on limited knowledge of the data source and structure
  • Ability to work closely within a team and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to handle conflict, difficult situations, and urgent issues in a professional manner.
  • Experience working with source control systems such as GIT, SVN, TFS

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with QlikSense, or other enterprise Business Intelligence platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Websockets
  • Experience with modern JavaScript specifications (ES6, ES7, ES8)
  • Experience with JavaScript-based charting frameworks such as d3js, chartio…etc.
  • Experience in functional programming
  • Experience with python or R
  • Expertise with C#, ASP.NET MVC, and WebAPI.
  • Experience with .NET Core
  • Experience working with Hadoop ecosystems and associated data sources
  • Experience analyzing and improving SQL query performance
  • Experience with ETL principles and tools such as SSIS and Pentaho
