The key focus of the Automation Engineer is to revolutionize the delivery and lifecycle management of Netsmart solutions and services. Automation Engineers will work across infrastructure, operations, security, and development teams to analyze and optimize workflows, reduce client sign-to-live time, and automate the lifecycle management of solutions while incorporating Netsmart hosting best practices.  They will be responsible for executing the vision for the Next-Gen software defined X.


  • Design and develop private and public cloud automation and orchestration for SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS environments
  • Interact with product managers, enterprise architecture, development, and operations to understand requirements and translate into tasks for automation
  • Work closely with other team members in a geographically dispersed environment using Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies
  • Driven to find new and innovative technology solutions for current or future challenges
  • Demonstrate and/or communication periodic progress to stakeholders, management and executives
  • Evangelize and enable others with Netsmart to adopt automated process in adherence to Plexus Clouds automation framework.

Minimum Required Skills

  • Intermediate to Advanced level experience developing complex automation using one or more of the following (PowerShell, Python, Ruby, Bash)
  • Intermediate to Advanced level experience using Puppet for Application Deployment and Configuration Management
  • Intermediate level experience with CI/CD driving development and Jenkins
  • Experience with Git, RDBMS, NoSQL
  • Ability to contribute and lead initiatives
  • Self-starter always looking for the next challenge

Preferred Skills

• Experience with both Windows and Linux based operating systems

• Experience deploying and configuring VMs in a VMware based environments using PowerCLI

• Experience designing and developing processes that leverage both SOAP and REST API services
• Strong knowledge of hierarchical data formats (JSON, XML, YAML, etc.)
• 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
• Expert level understanding of Puppet, Puppet Tasks, MCollective, Factor, and Hiera
