Job Purpose:

The Community Strategist is a subject matter expert supporting the Client Health goals with Netsmart’s Behavioral Health clients within a geographic region.  This individual leads proactive and responsive efforts to develop strong relationships with client leadership.  This will include generating shared action plans or roadmaps that advance Client Health through impacting the value of existing Netsmart solutions and advising on opportunities to expand the value by utilizing new Netsmart solutions.  The Community Strategist will work with Community General Managers, Regional Client Alignment General Managers and the Area Vice President to identify and prioritize client health opportunities.  These may be broader product / solution goals, support initiatives or working through client specific scenarios. When working with specific clients, the Community Strategist will collaborate with and provide subject matter expertise to Netsmart’s Client Alignment Executives and Client Executives who are assigned to those Clients.  The Community Strategist will be a “voice of the client” in interactions with Community General Manager, Product Managers and other Netsmart functions supporting Client Alignment outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage with specific clients to develop and grow our partnership through executive relationship development, strategic planning, and demonstrating industry leadership.
  • Lead and/or support health improvement initiatives for specific clients on an as needed basis.  This may include leading a cross-functional effort to resolve specific needs or issues for a client.
  • Participate in and/or lead initiatives that enhance Netsmart’s approach, processes, and tools for developing and maintaining strong, healthy partnerships with our clients.
  • Support the development the Client Alignment team’s skills for  effectively managing client health. 
  • Act as a subject matter expert on in a variety of client facing settings, such as client webinars, conference presentations or facilitating user group sessions.
  • Communicates with passion and understanding Netsmart's overall guiding principles and strategic imperatives, solution offerings, technology, and consulting services and how they relate to provide total client value.
  • Helps to cultivate relationships that include C-Level client leaders to ensure the health and growth of client relationships.
  • Works well in a matrixed organization and effectively teams with the Netsmart Community Practice Leaders, Lines of Business Managers, and Operational teams to bring the right resources to the client alignment efforts.



  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university

Specialized skills and knowledge

  • Leadership experience
  • Effective motivating, teaching, and mentoring fellow associates
  • Worked with service organizations focused on enterprise software deployments
  • Experience with industry groups


  • 5 or more years in sector
  • 3 or more years of experience working with electronic health record software (ideally Netsmart’s solutions)
  • Demonstrable success in developing strong partnerships
  • Experience working within and leading cross-functional teams

Physical Requirements:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to work extended hours beyond 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and constantly operate a computer. Must be able to move to various meeting locations. Frequently communicates with internal, external and executive personnel and must be able to listen and exchange accurate information.
